The DAKOTA STRIKE Event Sponsors, in concert with TechND, are pleased to announce the 1st Annual Dakota Strike Mobile Application Development Competition in conjunction with the DAKOTA STRIKE Career Expo in Fargo, North Dakota, April 8, 2020. The focus of the Mobile App Competition is to:

  1. Enable cyber and business application development career exploration,
  2. Stimulate creative thinking and scientific problem solving, and
  3. Promote the use of the entrepreneurial spirit to solve public-service related problems.

Additionally, the competition/event sponsors will offer feedback for the participating student teams.  The Dakota Strike Mobile App Development Competition has two competition divisions -- High School and Collegiate.  All North Dakota or participating [1] Minnesota High School or College students can submit an application and compete at the event.

The Dakota Strike Mobile App Development Competition will accept creative ideas for unique applications that can be run on Android, Apple/IOS, and Windows platforms.  Competing teams will have to submit unique (not reproduced or copied) and original applications/concepts, a 30-second to one-minute video detailing the functions of the application and how it can be utilized by the general public.  The competition will focus on four different target areas:

  • Applications that can be used for public service
  • Safety
  • Quality of Life
  • Financial

To keep overall design simple, applications should be single function applications that solve a problem or provide a unique service.  Please find below the information on the Dakota Strike Mobile App Development Competition Terms and Conditions and the submission process. Please indicate intent to participate by submitting a form at the Contact Us link NLT March 20.  You will then be emailed instructions on how to submit your application and videos.  The Application and video must be received by 11:59 pm Central Standard Time (CST) on 27 March 2020.

[1] Note:  Participating is defined as a high school or college that sends students to attend the event in addition to participating in the Mobile Application Competition.  Participating can also include independent learners or home school student teams who attend the event.
